In the uo3d client he looks really, really pale compared to the 2d. If its the case, its probably an issue with something on your system as I mentioned before. Normally if hueing isnt even close, its because your card has some issues with alpha blending or zbuffering, which also explains it flickering - probably

Conflicting reports on 2D vs 3D modes
The petroleum industry literature provides massive coverage of the advantages of 3D, but I have the impression that a lot of 2D surveys are still performed, at least in "frontier" areas. Can someone provide me hard numbers? And maybe discuss the criteria used to decide between 2D and 3D.

Okay, I know there has been a lot of debate recently about 2D vs 3D games. Well, I am going to write an article for the website I write for www.playstationfan.com on what people think and I was wondering if people here could give a brief opinion on 2D and 3D games and what they think of them.

2D vs 3D in strategy games
There are 3D games which work in 2D, and 2D games which offer depth like 3D (especially isometric games). And even worse, you can have the same game done both 2D and 3D (see Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics). There will never be any progress in the 2D vs 3D debate because there is so much overlap.

Well, that's my view of 2d vs. 3d graphics. If an effect uses the 3D chip to accelerate it, it's 3D. Bullshit. If the effect uses polygons, it's 3D. My wife used to create charts on the dicomed using polygons - I sure wouldn't have called it a 3D effect. Powerpoint uses "polygon" drawing tools as well...also not 3D

Personally, I like different things in 2D and 3D animation. In 2D animation, I like the additional freedom and vitality of hand-drawn characters, who do not have to conform exactly to the constraints of perspective or even fixed anatomy. By comparison, the 3D characters--even at their best, as in Soul Calibur--look

2D vs 3D (was Re: New Sims 2 Newsgroup?)
The same goes for what is 3D, particularly when the results are displayed on a 2D screen. There can't in my eyes be a single deciding factor. Too many sprite-based 2D games allow 3 dimensions of movement. Too many polygonal games 'play' in only two dimensions, and could be done with the exact same look and feel

2D VS 3D
To be honest with you, the 3D is all fine and dandy, but it's not everything. I've found out I can get motion sickness even from The Sims 2, if the family size is too large and the game starts to stutter.... More reasons why I don't play family a lot but focus on building houses. I also agree with some of people
